FAQ’s

What should I expect?

You can expect our sessions to be regular, dedicated opportunities to focus on yourself, your relationships, and your family or classroom. I will listen carefully, so I can help you notice patterns in your behavior that you might not see, and so I can offer you the best possible tools to help you work through whatever you're struggling with. I'll also offer both specific information and support to help you get through the hurdles of parenting.

How often will we meet?

For the first 6-8 meetings, we'll meet once a week for 90 minutes. After these introductory sessions, we'll meet roughly once every two weeks to continue to practice what you've learned until it becomes a habit, and work with new issues as they arise.

I'll work with your schedule to meet at a time when you can focus on our conversation, and nothing else. I will also provide you with tools and exercises to practice between sessions, and support via email between sessions if necessary.

After our introductory sessions, parents have the opportunity to sign up for as many 6 session Habituation and Integration packages as you want, continuing into the future as you and your child face new challenges and opportunities for growth. (Note: teacher coaching packages are structured differently!)

One thing I love about working with families is witnessing people's growth over time!

Do have experience with children with special needs

I have classroom experience working with children with both physical and intellectual disabilities and neurodivergent children, as well as "twice-exceptional" children (someone who is both gifted and disabled in one or more ways). My experience ranges from one-on-one dyslexia instruction to working on a day-to-day basis with children with FAS, autism and ADHD. Before working in preschools, I spent several months working with adults who were wheelchair users, along with other physical and intellectual disabilities.

I believe very strongly that every child is an individual, and that with the right supports and scaffolding, children with special needs can learn and grow and have loving relationships, just like every child can.
